Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) is proud to award Catholic
Charities (of the Diocese of Stockton) for their Calaveras
focused “Family Wellness Program” the Dignity Heath Mark Twain
Medical Center Community Grant for 2018. “This expansion will
increase mental health service providers in Calaveras County,
increase access points, and available appointments within the
service area,” remarked Elvira Ramirez, Executive Director for
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Stockton.
Voters in Calaveras County are in favor of their local hospital
and its clinics entering a new 30-year lease with Dignity Health,
the fifth-largest health system in the nation and the largest
hospital provider in California. (The Union Democrat)
Mark Twain Medical Center in San Andreas has been named to a list
of Top Rural Hospitals of 2016.
Formerly known as Mark Twain Hospital and founded in 1951, the
25-bed, critical access facility provides inpatient acute care,
outpatient services and emergency services.
Mark Twain Medical Center is operated by Dignity Health of San
Francisco. Dignity Health bills itself as “the largest hospital
provider in California” and “the fifth largest not-for-profit
