Ms. Auerbach has over 25 years experience in health care executive management, including over 12 years as a hospital President/CEO. Her leadership strengths include medical staff relations, business development, improving quality and service excellence, financial management, culture development and community relations.
Ms. Auerbach currently holds the position of President & CEO at Seton Medical Center and Seton Medical Center Coastside. Seton has over 1800 employees and over 450 medical staff members. Seton has Centers of Excellence in Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery – a Top 100 recognized cardiac program (The San Francisco Heart and Vascular Institute), Spine surgery (The San Francisco Spine Institute), an AHA designated/Joint Commission accredited Gold Plus Stroke Center, an NIH Certified Community Oncology Center and a recognized Orthopedics/minimally invasive Joint Replacement Center. After assessing the potential of the organization, Ms. Auerbach has been responsible for developing and implementing plans for strategic repositioning and growth, expanding on existing cornerstone programs and developing new leading edge programs and services. She has developed the vision and strategy for raising the bar on quality and service excellence and improving organizational culture; she has developed and implemented a leading edge Robotic Surgery program for minimally invasive Urology, Cardiac and Gyn surgery; and she has implemented a financial turnaround process to move the facility towards stronger and more stable performance and fiscal viability.
Ms. Auerbach previously served as President of Century City Doctors Hospital. At Century, Ms. Auerbach was responsible for creating and implementing a complete and fully functional new hospital and a free standing state of the art imaging center “from the ground up”. She created a leading edge model for healthcare delivery driving the vision for the organization and setting an exceptionally high bar for excellence in quality, service efficiency, financial performance and physician relations. During her tenure, she established all of the hospital’s processes and systems, recruited all members of the executive team, recruited physician partners and active medical staff, managed major facility construction, developed the organizational culture of quality and excellence, developed all facility programs and services creating the infrastructure and the effective implementation and operation of each. The facility design took advantage of leading edge technology and fully integrated single platform hospital-wide clinical IT and financial information systems to create efficiencies that enhanced the physician/ patient experiences and patient care outcomes.
As President & CEO of American Medical Systems, she was
responsible for the formulation and implementation of hospitals’
responses to health care pressures and challenges in addition to
resolving institutional financial, operational and strategic
issues. She has worked with academic medical centers,
not-for-profit, and for-profit hospitals as well as
multi-hospital systems. Specifics have included strategic
repositioning, construction project management, financial and
operational turnarounds, systems/workflow analysis and redesign,
medical staff development, accreditation/ licensure compliance,
and management/ organizational development.
Prior experience included CEO positions at Dominguez Medical Center in Long Beach, CA, Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley, CA and Tuolumne General Hospital in Sonora, CA.
Ms. Auerbach holds a Master’s Degree in Health Care
Administration, is Board Certified in Health Care Administration
and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Ms. Auerbach recently served as Chairman of the National CEO
Committee for the American College of Healthcare Executives. She
is currently a Commissioner for the Health Plan of San Mateo and
serves on the Boards of the Hospital Council of Northern and
Central California (also a member of the Board Executive
Committee and Board Audit Committee), the Hospital Consortium of
San Mateo (where she is Vice Chair) and the American Heart
Association in San Francisco. She is an author and frequent
speaker on healthcare delivery models.
