Barbara Harrelson was a leader within the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California and among the hospitals and community organizations she served. After her untimely passing in 2006, the Hospital Council, through the Healthcare Foundation, established the Barbara Harrelson Health Sciences Scholarship in honor of her memory and the reputation she earned for workforce issues.

To continue Barbara’s mission in promoting health careers to a wider audience and providing support to training programs and the students enrolled in them, each year scholarships are awarded to students enrolled for the first time in an accredited health career program that will lead to practice in California.
