The Hospital Council of Northern and Central California’s mission is to help our members to provide high quality health care and to improve the health status of the communities they serve.

Our Values
· Trust — The foundation of the Hospital Council is always acting in the best interests of our members. We will, at all times, demonstrate the highest ethical standards.
· Respect and Dignity — Respect for individuals, fair dealing, and nondiscrimination in relationships is a standard the Hospital Council will maintain at all times.
· Collaboration — The Hospital Council will foster collaboration among members and between members and healthcare stakeholders, working with them to find solutions to mutual problems and community issues. We will foster teamwork, advocacy and cooperation among hospitals in each region.

The Hospital Council assists members in providing consistent and publicly evident value for patients and the community. Access to health care is a right for everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. The Hospital Council helps members to provide access to high quality, cost-effective, community-focused programs and services that promote health and an optimally healthy society.

Member Benefits
· Advocacy and Issue Management — The Hospital Council works in partnership with CHA to influence state and federal legislation and regulatory issues. At the local level, the Hospital Council monitors County Boards of Supervisors, health departments and other agencies, and supports member involvement in local decision-making on such critical issues as health care workforce, the safety net, access to care, emergency medical services (EMS) and reimbursement, patient safety, community benefits and more.
· A Seat at the Table — The Hospital Council provides members with unsurpassed opportunities to network with peers, community, business and government leaders.
· Operational Challenges— The Hospital Council assists members in implementing programs to overcome operational challenges and improve patient care.
· Public Advocacy — The Hospital Council actively collaborates with CHA in a statewide public advocacy campaign that educates local media and accurately portrays to the public issues impacting hospitals such as health-care reform, challenges facing emergency departments, the uninsured, workforce shortages, and seismic compliance costs. The Hospital Council is the industry spokesperson with the media and public.
· Business and Government Coalitions — The Hospital Council coordinates grassroots activities in support of CHA's public policy priorities and works to establish strong relationships with federal and state lawmakers, government agencies, business coalitions, chambers of commerce and other key health care organizations.
· Business Services — Operational support is available through the Hospital Council in many areas of hospital operations including finance, compliance, safety, recruitment and blood services.
· Quality Initiatives — The Hospital Council supports the implementation of patient safety and quality initiatives through collaboratives, education, peer-to-peer networking, and sharing of best practices.
