Hospital Council of Northern and Central California
The Hospital Council of Northern and Central California is a nonprofit hospital and health system trade association representing more than 200 hospitals in 50 of California’s 58 counties – from Kern County to the Oregon border. The Hospital Council’s membership includes hospitals and health systems ranging from small, rural hospitals to large, urban medical centers, representing more than 37,000 licensed beds. The Hospital Council is a member-driven organization helping members accomplish together what they may not accomplish individually.
Hospital Council services are delivered geographically through sections, each with specifically designated staff. This structure provides members with opportunities to pursue common goals and efforts that may be county-specific and/or regional in nature. Section meetings are held on an ongoing basis where groups of hospitals in one or more counties meet to develop and implement solutions for local issues. The Hospital Council of Northern and Central California is the organizer of the Bay Area Patient Safety Collaborative. Member hospitals also belong to the California Hospital Association, which provides hospitals with representation and advocacy services on state and federal issues.
Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation
In September 2000, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation was established to create positive outcomes for future generations. Today, in partnership with many grantees, the Foundation is working to make significant and lasting, measurable outcomes in three major areas: global environmental conservation, science, and the San Francisco Bay Area. As an initiative of the San Francisco Bay Area program, the Betty Irene Moore Nursing Initiative provides funding to Alameda, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties to improve nursing-related patient outcomes in acute care hospitals, http://www.moore.org/.
